UB Men's Basketball awards

Here is the 2010-2011 awards for the UB Men's Basketball.

Most Valuable Player:  Jermaine Washington (Senior) averaging a team high 14 pts per game, 3 rebounds per game and 3 assists a game and 1.3 steals per game.

Comments: After spending the 2009-2010 as the a top reserve/spot starter, Washington as emeraged as a leader for the Purple Knights. Coach Mike Ruane expected him to step up his game this season after guard Steve Martin graduated. Washington's overall ability to run the point guard position has helped the team to where it is today and gearing up for the ECC playoff tournament in March.

Most Improved Player: Msoo Ikaaytor (Senior) averaging 10 pts per game 5 rebounds per game and nearly 1 block per game.

Comments: This season as the starting center for the Purple Knights, Ikaaytor, has emerged as a good inside presence for UB after spending last season in a reserve role backing up former center Demetrius Phillips. His ability to dive for loose balls and show hustle on the court has made him become an effective player.

Newcomer of the Year: Josh Martin (Junior) averaging 12.5 pts per game, 3 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Comments: Before the season started alot of players told me to don't overlook Martin and his ability as a transfer player. Well he has lived up to those expectations by being the third highest scoring player on the team and being a threat from the behind the arc.
