Wednesday's match against Bentley University will mark another tough test for Bridgeport as they will host one of the top teams in the Northeast-10 Conference. So far this season, the Purple Knights are 2-1 against the NE-10. Over the past four meetings between the two teams, each school has won twice, splitting the series. Bridgeport defeated the Falcons 2-0 in 2008 during their first and only ever visit to Knights Field.
The Falcons come into the game second in the NE-10 with a 6-2-1 record only trailing Franklin Pierce University who is still a perfect 9-0-0. They are currently tied with Southern New Hampshire University by allowing the second fewest goals in the conference with seven. Senior forward Matt Solomon leads Bentley in both goals with four and points with eight, while freshman midfielder Louis Boisvert is second with seven points. Senior goalkeeper Matt Reynolds is 5-2 on the season and has a .075 Goals Against Average (GAA).
Bridgeport has won its last two games by outscoring its opponents 9-2 in wins over Wilmington University and N.Y.I.T. Sophomore forward Markus Nagelstad has been on fire lately recording four goals and three assists in the past two games, while sophomore midfielder Danny Ruiz has three points (two goals and one assists) during that span.
"They [Bentley] are a hardworking, blue collar soccer team and they make it really hard for you to play," men's soccer head coach Brian Quinn said. "It is certainly a team we have go into the game confidently but also willing to do alot of hard work to beat them."
Gametime is set for 5 p.m. at Knights Field. Admission is free.
