A week after defeating Molloy College on the road to extend their perfect season record to 11-0, the Purple Knights will return home on Saturday to host ECC rival Dowling College. The Golden Lions are currently second in the conference with 9-3-1 record and 3-0-1 in ECC play. Over the past three meetings, Bridgeport has won each match by outscoring them 7-3 in the process.
Dowling is led by forward Megan Emanuelo, who has recored a team leading seven goals and 16 points. Teammate Karen Endresen is second with four goals and 10 points and Goalkeeper Melissa Guglielmo has complied a 9-3 record with six shutouts. The Golden Lions are currently in a three way tie with the Purple Knights and N.Y.I.T. for the most team assists in the conference with 18 and are second in total shots with an average of 14 per game.
Since replacing Jenny Hwang in the starting lineup in late September, freshman midfielder Giuana Prugger has made a big contribution by earning this week's ECC Award for most outstanding play along with teammate Julia Hansson. Prugger is now fourth on the team with six points. Bridgeport has only surrendered three goals all season, which is best in the East Region.
Gametime is set for 3 p.m. at Knights Field. Admission is free.
Mr. Hogan. Southern Conn. State has only allowed one goal all season. Three goals is two more then one.
